
Denise Grasteit Woolsey 
Denise Joanne Grasteit Woolsey, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the age of 68 from brain cancer while in the care of Paramount Health & Rehabilitation in Millcreek, Utah. She was the last member of her immediate family to pass and join them on the other side.
Denise was born on Friday, July 20, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was loved by her family and adored by her father who called her "Honeybunch" and "Punkin". She was especially close to her younger brother, Steven.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed doing temple work with her mother Bonnie and her brother Steven. She looked forward to watching Music and the Spoken Word on Sundays and attending church.
She was married to Alan Earl Woolsey on Friday, September 18, 1981 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was married for 21 years and later divorced. Although she never had any children of her own, she loved cats and had six of them.
Denise enjoyed all kinds of music. She was skilled at crocheting. She liked reading the scriptures and memorized several of them. She had a big heart and cared deeply about her family and friends. She was very good at remembering loved ones birthdays with greeting cards and a handwritten heartfelt message.
Denise did well in school. She was punctual and rarely absent. She graduated from Highland High School in 1974. Denise held various jobs over her life but her two most recent jobs were working 5 years at Walmart as a cashier earning her 5 year pin and a crossing guard at Lincoln Elementary in Salt Lake City.
She will be missed by her devoted long time boyfriend, David Roestenburg. They had many enjoyable years together. When Denise became ill, he faithfully came everyday to visit her in care centers, bringing her treats and keeping her company.
The family would like to give special thanks to Julie, Ray and Matt Lambert; Karen and David Giles who were helpful, long time friends, always looking out for Denise and ministering to her needs. Our deepest gratitude to the devoted staff of Rosewood Assisted Living and Canyon Home Care & Hospice for their remarkable service and compassionate care.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Clarence Grasteit; mother, Bonnie Mae Dodge Grasteit; her three brothers, Dennis Grasteit, Duane Grasteit and Steven Grasteit; her two sisters, Lynda Crosby and Diane Hibler. She is survived by her sister-in-law Annette Grasteit and cousin Ray Hulse.
A memorial service will be held at Rosewood Assisted Living (464 East 3700 South, Salt Lake City) Friday, November 1, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. Interment following in the Salt Lake City Cemetery located at 4th Avenue and N. Street. (Plot is located between Main Street and Grand Ave. in the cemetery.)
